Rose Festival Performance – June 11, 2016
The Northwest Chinese Alliance performed in the 2016 Grand Floral Parade with another strong team of 40 beautiful dancers performing the beautifully costumed group of Chinese dancers again including a team of 30 lotus dancers and 6 land-boat dancers.
This year’s team was again directed by our Artistic Director, Ms. Zhang Li, with Ms. Xiaohong Lu serving as Performance Director.
Here is a link to the video by FOX TV during the parade (8 minutes long).
The 2016 entry includes four very attractive looking “land boats” lead by Ms. Iris Zhao and a large group of beautifully costumed lotus dancers. The four boats are called “Han Chuan” and are a form of popular Chinese Han dynasty folk art performances in major festivals.
The lotus dancers are performing the “Lotus in June” Chinese dance routine that was created more than 300 years ago, with modern dance elements. The green fans reflect the floating lotus leaves and the interior pink fans reveal blossoming lotuses that symbolize beauty and purity.
