The Northwest Chinese Alliance was proud to represent the Chinese Community of Greater Portland at the 2022 Rose Festival Grand Floral Parade with a new dance, “Life Goes On With the Drum Beat Dance”. Since Early 2020, the pandemic had been a big challenge for people all over the world. We were so glad to be celebrating our reunion at the Rose Festival Grand Floral Parade with a new dance designed to energize people, forge a sense of unity and express the best wishes for the post-pandemic era.
All of the volunteer artistic directors and dancers are very experienced and skilled dancers, with many returning year after year. Many are busy moms and working professionals with their own very demanding time commitments. And yet because of their desires of sharing this traditional Chinese cultural art form with the general public, they have willingly contributed many hours of their free time for the necessary training and rehearsals in order to dance here at the Parade today. They would like to send their warmest greetings of friendship and goodwill to everyone watching on Portland streets and on TV.
We would like to especially recognize our very capable and talented 2022 performance leadership:
– Claudia Chai (晋如) – Team Organizer & Board Vice President
– Jennifer Li ( 筱坚) – Artistic Director & Board Director
– Xiaohong Lu ( 晓红) – Dance Designer and Board Secretary
They have contributed many hours of their creativity, organization skills and dance expertise to help produce the excellent dance presentation. They are especially recognized for producing the most organized, well-rehearsed and fun experience for the whole team. Thank you so very much.
We celebrated our successful performance and our deep appreciations to the dancers and volunteers at the lovely Foothills Park. We enjoyed excellent Chinese food, lovely dances and singing, and finally picture taking to mark our team’s very special achievements. What a lovely evening!
Thank you, everyone. We could not have done it without our hard working leaders, dance team members and volunteers. And our special appreciations to our sponsors and supporters. SEE YOU NEXT YEAR!
